Gymnation

Overview

The Gym Nation project required that a fully functional forum website be developed on the Drupal platform. The previous website was built on phpBB which whle offering a number of custom components of functionality did not allow the control the client sought on their forum.

The Approach

The original website functionality was reviewed and analaysed, this was difficult as there were a number of functional components that were not obvious in the phpBB website at time of development starting. Working from a design created by the Zest team the new forum functionality was developed. Particular focus was given to the ability for Moderators to manage and control the content being added to the site. As a high traffic website specific consideration needed to be given to the creation of friendly URL's and structure of the content

The Outcome

The result is a website that offers many of the features of a modern content management system coupled with the advanced features of a modern forum. The new website has delivered and enhanced the original phpBB functionality while offering a number of new features. Google Index ratings were maintained during the go-live through use of 301 redirects on approximately 15,000 pages of content.
